Greek Leadership Summit

The Greek Leadership Summit is a two-day, institute style event that challenges our Sorority & Fraternity Life chapter and council presidents to grow as leaders, affect change in our community and their organizations, and explore their values as leaders. The Summit is hosted every winter prior to the start of spring classes.

What Do I Need To Know?

The 2024 Greek Leadership Summit will take place at a retreat center in Crossville, TN on Friday & Saturday, January 19-20, 2024

Students will meet in the commuter parking lot beside Sorority Village Center to board busses on Friday, January 19 starting at 9:30 AM.

Chapter and council presidents must RSVP, and if they are unable to attend, please send an alternative on the executive board.

What Do We Talk About?

By participating in Greek Leadership Summit, presidents will be able to:

  • Identify larger sense of communities
  • Explore intersectionality between Chapters, Councils and Individual Members experiences
  • Describe how individual decisions/actions effect the larger community
  • Identify resources that can support them in their role
  • Build Knowledge of OSFL Policy & Procedures

There will be time to build relationships and knowledge within council and with the entire community. Chapter presidents will be able to spend time with their respective councils and OSFL Chapter Coach!

Who Has To Be There?

All sorority and fraternity chapter presidents and IFC, MGC, NPHC, and Panhellenic council presidents. Here are answers to common questions around attendance:

  • Alternates can replace chapter/council presidents if they are approved by council advisor and are currently members of the executive board.
  • Every chapter is required to have one approved delegate from the chapter. The chapter will lose SOFE points for not being in attendance.
  • If a representative confirms their attendance and then does not attend the Greek Leadership Summit, there will be a financial obligation the council/chapter will be responsible for.
  • All attendance questions need to be addressed with Hunter Carlheim, assistant director for Greek leadership & training, and the respective council advisor as soon as a question or issue arises.

  • This is an alcohol/substance-free event.
  • Communication is key! Please ask questions.

  • Transportation is provided via a coach bus. Self-transportation can be approved for schedule conflicts and emergencies, and drivers will need to sign liability waivers. This is limited to due to parking. If you do drive, OSFL staff will provide gate-code for access. Car access is limited to driving to and from the conference only (explorations of Crossville, TN will not be approved).

  • Positive Attitude: New year, new semester, fresh start! Start off the year with optimism as we look forward to 2023.
  • Curiosity: This opportunity will allow you to ask questions about much more than just your chapter. Come ready to ask questions about things you may know, but also be ready to ask questions about things you learn while at the retreat. You’ll have the ability to work with your council advisor, council president, OSFL staff, and chapter coach!
    • There will be dedicated time for YOU to talk with other participants about something that YOU want to discuss within your position or the community – come ready to discuss something of important or what you have questions about.
