Alpha Chi Omega On a Roll

Say Yes to the Prom Dress is Alpha Chi Omega’s spring philanthropy event, held this year on February 18th and 19th. Prom dresses were donated from women from the entire Knoxville community to be sold for discounted prices. Those selling their dresses made a decision to keep the money for the prom dress they sold or donate the money to benefit victims of domestic violence in Knoxville. Through this event high school prom dress seekers were able to find beautiful dresses at a discounted price and promote a wonderful cause at the same time.Over $1,500 was raised and donated to the YWCA Keys of Hop Program, which supports the victims of domestic violence. Prom dresses that were not sold were donated to a special needs prom in the Sevierville County special needs prom. About 120 Alpha Chi Omega women helped to make this event possible.

These Hands Donut Hurt, an event held Friday February 24 was established to promote Healthy Relationships Week, which is a big push within educating college students on Domestic Violence Awareness and Sexual Assault. No money was raised, this event strictly was for education and promotion, as well as fun! Doughnuts were passed out on Pedestrian Walkway as well as strong messages about healthy relationships. Around 100 Alpha Chi Omega women participated in this event with countless University students who stopped by.
